Cool, sharp, streetwise, Sam Jones attracts trouble like she does men. Finding herself in the midst of a twisted intrigue of blackmail and drug taking. Surrounded by anorexic Sloanes, raucous merchant backers and a series of very expensive dinners. Sam is in a world not her own; and as the deaths increase she comes to realise that her own life is at risk.

More Lauren Henderson!! This is one of the earlier Sam Jones novels, and I think I've read it already, but I'm not certain so I'm going to read it again anyway!

Up to page 7

I've only just started re-reading this, as my current book is too big and heavy to snuggle up and fall asleep with. Sam and Hopkins have had a bit of a barney and he's told her it's over, and she's completed work on her new installation and donned the eponymous black rubber dress for the opening party. Not too much to report, but as I won't get the chance to write again for a couple of weeks I thought it best to update.

The End

I've just discovered one really good thing about having ME; that you can reread a whodunit and still be surprised by the ending. Ok, so that may just make me incredibly stupid, shhhh, don't tell anyone!

So a whole book happened since I last wrote anything, and to be honest I finished it a long time ago, so this is to be a sketchy review.

Sam's sculpture 'Thing II' AKA 'Floating Planet' has been bought to hang in the front hall of the Mowbray Steiner Bank. All cool, you might think, and it is right up to the point where the thing falls on a guy and kills him. The guy is none other than the boss man's future son-in-law.

It all bodes badly for Sam, despite her new foray into the investment banking world (and an investment banker's pants too!). Luckily it's quickly discovered that the sculpture was just a convenient scapegoat, and the guy OD'd. So the question is, who tried to frame 'Floating Planet' and tried to make the banker looked squished? Sam sets out to find out.

It's a Sam Jones novel ergo, I loved it. It's not my favourite, but it's a dead good story. The end though is a touch disappointing. I won't detail it, but needless to say I thought it was a whole other person that did the deed, and preferred the version I remembered! It was nice being surprised by a reread though, that doesn't happen too often! Maybe my Mum's right, and when you watch a movie or read a book the second time it can be different. I never believed her before, but now...I may have to entertain the notion.
